trackback Technology has been increasingly seen as integral to most modern educational endeavours. The recognition of the role of technology should also come with a greater understanding of how technology contributes to education. In this book, we discuss a piece of technology, the Course Management Systems (CMS), which has become an important feature in tertiary education. We try to go beyond merely repeating the advantages of CMS to education. We present a research-based view of the technology, with a focus on CMS use for the purpose of second language instruction. The ultimate aim is not to sway opinion one way or the other, but to present an understanding of the technology based on the research we have undertaken so far in the area. This book would be of great value to researchers in the field of educational technology and Computer-Assisted Language Learning. It will also be an excellent reference for developers and programmers interested to develop a learning-driven CMS.
